Exceed my expectation. Very convenient to use. Make the testiest coffee, much better then I ever have from DeLonghi drip coffee maker, I had before. The only improvement I am looking for - the shutoff power switch.
I had to return the first one I got since the front light was not working properly. The percolator also looks great also.
The coffee this percolator makes is the best tasting coffee but I only give it 4 stars since needs some improvements. As someone mention this one doesn't have a shut off bottom which can be dangerous if anyone forgets to shut it off.
I do recommend this item though, that is if you are looking for the best cup of coffee. Something like auto shut off and maybe a timer.
The item looks great and the workmanship looks of the highest quality.except for the base which can also be improve but is not noticeable at all. I also recommend that you test this item right after you get it.
Too expensive to be faulty.
When we first got this percolator about 6 months ago, we loved it. If you fill it up the night before and plug it in the next morning, there's water underneath it. Recently it started popping the ground fault plug in the kitchen and we had to move it into the dining room to make the coffee. We discovered it has a slow leak below the handle. But even if we wait until morning it still pops the plug, and no amount of drying off the leaking water seems to help. This has become a huge hassle and now I'm shopping for another one.
I love it. The stainless steel is easy to keep clean (inside and out). It would be nice if they had a switch to turn the heat on low when you want to leave it sitting a while when you have only a couple of cups left. It stays just barely at the boiling point. I haven't had percolated coffee in about 30 years and had forgotten how much better it is. It died after a little more than a year and I was sick of it anyway - hard to clean, didn't get hot enough, etc., But then they are all like that.
So I decided to go back to a percolator. I couldn't believe how much better it tasted. I've had this about a week now. However you'll notice that if you measure your water, you'll see that the 10 cup mark is actually six measured cups. And you are able to clean all the parts unlike the drip makers which are hard to clean. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is no way to reduce the heat to low. I just fill it now to the max line and fill the coffee holder to its max and it turns out fine.
I use it without a filter and I don't have any grounds in the coffee as some people have mentioned with these type of percolators so I don't think you really need them if you're careful when you load it. My last coffee maker was a black and decker drip type. There is a window that allows you to see the coffee which is nice. And you don't have to fool with filters. I love that it gets piping hot and stays hot to the last cup. However the side window is marked to a max of 10 cups. Good to the last drop.I recommend.
In other words, you have to unplug the Percolator in order to turn it off. It looks great, makes GREAT coffee. Someone at work did not know that and accidentally placed almost empty Percolator back on the base, and if we did not notice it on time it would probably get burned. BUT. Whoever designed it forgot to ad the switch button. What a shame. Because other then that - none of the people at the office are going to StarBucks anymore.
